Avalanche Protection Project Loser

Protecting the Forest – Preventing Natural Hazards
The Loser in the Ausseerland is not only a popular excursion destination but also of great importance for protection against natural hazards such as avalanches, mudslides, and rockfall. To ensure this important function in the long term, the Protection Forest Project Loser was launched.

The goal of the project is to make the protection forest resilient to climate change through targeted care measures, reforestation with site-appropriate tree species, and long-term stabilization. The focus is particularly on the natural regeneration of the forest, preserving biodiversity, and sustainably securing the protective function for settlements and infrastructure in the valley area.
