Pflindsberg Castle Ruin
The Pflindsberg Castle Ruin in Altaussee is a significant cultural and historical monument and a defining element of the Ausseerland landscape. To prevent further decay of the structure, which was built in the 13th century, and to preserve its historical substance, a comprehensive restoration project has been underway since 2023.
The goal of the project is to permanently preserve the ruin, make its history more visible, and carefully make it accessible to visitors. The focus is on monument-conforming restoration measures, securing the masonry, and maintaining the surrounding vegetation.
The project is being carried out in close cooperation with the Federal Monuments Office, the property owner Österreichische Bundesforste AG, the municipality of Altaussee, and local partners, and is supported by funding.
In this way, the Pflindsberg Castle Ruin is to remain a place of history, culture, and recreation for the future.
